The Peace Link Clones

The PEACE Link is an iconic state of the art sporting facility on the edge of Clones, Co. Monaghan. The facility is at the heart of a movement to build better relationships between people in the Clones (Co. Monaghan) /Erne East (Co. Fermanagh) area, using sport as the medium.

Clones Athletics Club was established in 1976 as a juvenile club. The club developed a senior membership in 2011 and by the end of 2015 boasted a membership of 359 juveniles and seniors, making it the largest club in Co. Monaghan.

The echo of the call issued by Michael Cusack and his co-founders of the GAA in 1884 did not reach Clones until 1886. Then as at other times since, the men of the ancient town of St. Tiarnach, ever conscious of their Gaelic heritage rallied and a branch, as clubs were then called was formed.
